Greenwood Residence
Our clients’ passion for Georgian architecture, gardening, and books guided the design of their home. Through thoughtful material selection and refined details, Dalgliesh Gilpin Paxton Architects achieved a timeless quality with this new residence.
We selected locally sourced and enduring materials, such as slate and hand-made wood-molded brick. Classical limestone detailing and Flemish bond brickwork, including rubbed arches, glazed headers, and hand-troweled joints, further enhance the property’s feel of permanence.
“People don’t believe me when I tell them this isn’t an old house.”
— CLIENT
The brick main house and its gardens are sited to accentuate panoramic views of the Burnt Mountains.
On the interior, tall ceilings, refined millwork, and generous glass openings reinforce the house’s timeless elegance with abundant natural light and access to the landscape.
The home’s thoughtful design sparked a visitor’s comment, “I’m not sure why, but this house just feels right to me.”
