Powhatan County Courthouse

Our firm restored the Powhatan County Courthouse, a Virginia Historic Landmark, and added 20,000 square feet of new governmental and judicial space.  With respect for the park-like setting and small-scale nineteenth century buildings, the addition’s Palladian-inspired design uses a series of smaller building masses that complement and enhance the original Courthouse Square complex.

"The architects created enough contrast between the new and old buildings to keep the Classical courthouse as the primary focus, a goal achieved through subtle strokes."— Inform
