Midway Farm

Midway, an early nineteenth-century country home nestled in Albemarle County’s rolling hills, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and the Virginia Landmarks Register.  Working in close collaboration with the Department of Historic Resources, Dalgliesh Gilpin Paxton Architects carefully restored the historic home and crafted an addition complementary to the existing residence yet perceptively distinct. The new construction engages the existing Charles Gillette garden and houses a family room, sunlit conservatory, two-story glass bay at the kitchen, and master suite above.  A new swimming pool and outdoor entertaining/dining space overlook stunning mountain views.  The original summer kitchen was renovated to provide bath and changing spaces convenient to the pool.
