    Jackson River House

Our clients, avid anglers and hunters, fell in love with the possibilities offered by this property on the Jackson River in Bath County, Virginia.  Their dream was to create a warm and relaxing compound where family and friends could gather to unwind and enjoy the outdoors.  Dalgliesh Gilpin Paxton Architects master planned a new entry road, bridge over the Jackson, garage, pool, and 5,000 square foot home, while working closely with the Virginia Outdoor Foundation to accommodate an existing preservation easement.  Nestled into a hill overlooking the river, the new house hearkens back to the 1800s by virtue of its large exterior openings, finely crafted woodwork, and carefully selected custom brick mix.  We renovated four other buildings on the property and provided interior design services for the entire complex.
