Bramblewood Farm

Our clients asked Dalgliesh Gilpin Paxton Architects to design a refined French Country home using low maintenance and livable materials.  We created a fieldstone house with limestone accents and classical detailing to look as though it grew from the surrounding mountain landscape.  The house’s spine is situated on an east/west axis to maximize southern views and natural light and to enhance the connection between indoor and outdoor spaces.  In contrast to the expansive southern views, the north side of the house with its mountain backdrop provides a secluded refuge.  Here the screened porch offers a cool, shaded oasis in summer months, as well as a protected, cozy outdoor room with fireplace in cool weather.
