Albemarle Garden and Stable
The owners of Bridlespur Farm envisioned creating a retreat reminiscent of an old-world European garden to serve as an entertainment venue, a refuge for quiet relaxation, and source for fresh vegetables and flowers.
The garden’s material palette of handmade wood-molded brick, vertical grain cedar, fieldstone, and slate, while virtually maintenance free, is delightfully picturesque.
Potting and dining pavilions are integrated into the brick walls, and latticed pavilions with rose arbor wings provide shade as well as additional visual structure.
We also converted the property’s existing brick stable into a handsome and functional headquarters for an equine rescue operation. With its wide aisles, generous stalls, abundant lighting, and cushioned flooring, the thoughtfully renovated barn prioritizes the safety, well-being, and rehabilitation of horses in residence.
